Art and politics in the 20th century

Friday, 9 September 2022, 6 p.m., Villa Schoeck > Tickets

The discussions that have been taking place about the Bührle Collection, now on display in the new wing of the Zurich Art Museum, have proven once again that dealing with the problematic political and economic issues of recent years remains complicated in Switzerland and is often met with ambivalence. This is also relevant when we engage with the life and work of Othmar Schoeck.

The participants in this discussion will be: Inga Mai Groote (professor of musicology at the University of Zurich), Erich Keller (historian and the author of Das kontaminierte Museum – “The contaminated museum”) and Alex Ross (music critic of The New Yorker and author of The Rest is Noise and Wagnerism). Alex Ross will take part in the discussion online from California.
